Gold’s Gym was established in 1965 in Venice Beach, California as one of the first co-ed fitness chains in America. Today, Gold’s International operates over 700 locations in 30 countries. The clubs have a variety of gym equipment, over fifty mind and body classes, and a kids’ club. Many clubs also have special innovations like the Cardio Cinema, a series of movies you can view while completing your workout. Even though you may be happy with your membership, you may need to cancel it for some reason. This article will explain the steps to take to cancel and the fees that may be involved in the Gold’s Gym cancellation process.
About Gold’s Gym
In addition to the standard equipment and programs, Gold’s ensures that you will begin your membership period by developing a fitness profile. Each new member works with a certified personal trainer to receive a 3D body scan and develop a 30-day fitness plan. The trainers are talented enough to lead classes like kickboxing, yoga, and zumba, and then conduct one-on-one sessions, providing members with long term support.
Gold’s costs are about average for the industry and most of the above services are included in the price of membership. The club stands out by making use of the latest technology with their Golds AMP APP (an online workout program using your favorite music), Cardio Cinema, and 12-week body transformation program. The staff is always ready to assist members through programs and workouts and help with the monitoring of all progress.
Gold’s Gym Membership Fee
You need to choose among three membership levels. The GOLD costs $29.99 a month (annually $360) with a $49 initiation fee, PLATINUM is $39.99 a month (annually $480) with a $29 initiation fee, and SILVER is $19.95 a month (annually $240) with a $69 initiation fee. Members can invite family members as guests and can bring their children to the kids’ club. Children will engage in active play activities and educational games while parents complete their workouts. The kids’ club is included in the Platinum membership and can be purchased by other members for a fee. You can learn more fees and services from our Gold’s Gym prices guide.
Member Cancellation Process
You can cancel your membership at any time by providing 30 days-notice either in an email, regular mail, or certified mail. There is a Gold’s Gym cancellation form that needs to be completed and you must provide sufficient proof if you are moving or have some medical condition. If you cancel in the middle of a dues deduction period, you are still responsible for paying for the entire period. Also, depending on the club, you may need to pay a cancellation fee.
You can also freeze your membership if your issue is a temporary one. You can do this for a period of 1 to 3 months but only once during a calendar year. Again, depending on the club, you may be charged $8 a month. You need to follow the same steps and use the same form presented in the cancellation process above.
The Gold’s Gym cancellation procedure is not difficult but you do need to check your membership agreement and follow the procedure set forth. If you do not provide all sufficient information and proof of your situation, you can incur a number of fees. If you have gone through this process, it would be helpful if you would share your experience so that others could learn from you.
