Canada’s largest fitness chain, Goodlife Fitness, provides a number of amenities. In addition to the basic cardio and strength machines, the clubs offer a variety of classes, pools, saunas, whirlpools, a cold plunge, personal training and sports’ courts. All these facilities make this club very attractive. But no matter how happy you are with your particular club, there may be reasons that lead to the cancellation of your membership. As described on the company’s website, this process seems simple. However, there are conditions listed in your membership agreement that add complexity. This article will explain the Goodlife Fitness cancellation method and any fees that may be required.
About Goodlife Fitness
Goodlife Fitness compares very favorably when it comes to diversity of services. There is cardio, strength, and resistance training, over forty different types of group classes, one-on-one and group personal training packages, and shower and locker facilities with whirlpools and saunas. There are also studios like the one called the Mind Den for relaxation and meditation, and the high intensity interval training program called GRIT. It seems like they cover the entire spectrum so you are sure to find something that meets your needs. The trainers are certified and work with members from the design to the completion of their fitness plan.
Goodlife Fitness Membership Fee
Each club is a franchise so there is some variation in membership fees. The Base membership which provides access to all the amenities of one club generally ranges between $15 and $30 a month, with an initiation fee of about $75. This makes the first year’s price $255 to $435. A Peak membership, for access to every club, costs between $25 to $40 per month. The initiation fee for this membership can be as high as $125, making the annual costs $425 to $605.
Included in either of these membership types is the JUMP! Program for children. More than just babysitting, JUMP provides an engaging environment to keep your children active while you complete your workout. Membership Cancellation Process
The most effective way to cancel your membership is in person with a service representative at the member desk. That person will collect all relevant information and forward it to the account staff. If you cannot get to a club, you can contact the Member Experience Department at 1-800-387-2524 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. In all of your correspondence, list your name and membership number, the reason for cancelling, and provide written proof of your situation.
Freezing or suspending your membership with Goodlife Fitness does not seem to be an option. Also, there is no online form to complete. The most important aspect is that you read the Goodlife Fitness cancellation terms listed in your membership agreement. The only period during which you may cancel with no financial penalty is the “Cooling Off” period. This is the first seven days of your membership. After that, you will pay a Goodlife Fitness cancellation penalty (as high as 20% of your membership cost) regardless of the reason for your cancellation.
The steps are simple and the Goodlife Fitness cancellation process can be completed quickly. However, after the “Cooling Off” period, you will most likely pay a penalty or cancellation fee for voiding your membership. This really depends on the club to which you belong, the type of membership you have, and the length of the commitment you made at the time you enrolled. All of these details make this simple process a little more confusing. If you have had a cancellation experience that you wish to share, that would help all those considering this option.
